Where we are.

Designated in 1976 as a Wild and Scenic River, Three Forks of the Flathead encompasses the North Fork of the Flathead from the Canadian border to its confluence with the Middle Fork, the entire Middle Fork, and the South Fork from its headwaters to Hungry Horse Reservoir. A total of 219 miles of the Flathead River are included in the designation. The river system flows through the traditional homelands of the Ktunaxa, Kootenai, Séliš (Salish), and Pikuni (Blackfeet) Peoples.

The Great Fish Community Challenge is a multi-week fundraising campaign that inspires community-wide giving and builds awareness about the critical work of Flathead Valley nonprofits. The Challenge brings the community together through a high-profile, collectively beneficial event.

With just one donation, you can support up to 80 different organizations that are improving the place you live and play, and help them earn a percentage matching grant thanks to the Whitefish Community Foundation.

Flathead Rivers Alliance is honored to participate in the Challenge in 2024 as second year participants! We have a goal of raising $30,000 this year to support our stewardship, community and education initiatives, safeguarding the future of the Flathead River System.
