Here’s what we’re doing and how you can help
To support our mission, we are dedicating ourselves to three key initiatives
Education
We aim to partner with community stakeholders and management agencies to better educate the public on issues and threats facing the three forks, and do so by focusing on areas that will lessen the pressure on this incredible resource. Consider volunteering for our summer River Ambassador Program. The goal of this program is to reach users at river access sites to share information, answer questions and help ensure they have a safe and fun time on the river. When funding and access allows, we also hope to help expand interpretive signage and other printed and posted materials to educate the public on river impacts.
Stewardship
As residents and visitors alike, we realize that every individual plays a part in keeping the three forks of the Flathead pristine for future generations. That’s why active stewardship is such a critical piece of the puzzle for FRA in preserving the three forks. This can show up in many ways, but we can all start by doing our part to care for the river and encourage others to do the same. We are currently working with our agency partners to identify infrastructure problems and other needs at river access sites, and will fundraise to implement these improvements. Together we will get our hands wet and help however we can to make these projects a success.
Community
We know that we can’t do this alone, and that there are many other effective organizations and individuals in our region doing great work for the waters of the Flathead. That’s why we want to collaborate with them all, and add to the collective vision of a resilient and healthy river ecosystem with people interacting respectfully and responsibly. We see ourselves as a facilitator of communication, discussion and public forum on issues surrounding the Flathead and as a partner with the Forest Service and Park Service in making that happen. With the help of our community, partners and donors we’ll raise the necessary funds to make all of this possible.
