Title: Board Member at Large for the Flathead Rivers Alliance (FRA)
Term:
Two or three-year board term with the option of renewal for three consecutive terms.

Title: High Student Board Member at Large for the Flathead Rivers Alliance (FRA)
Term: One Year

Position Summary:
Flathead Rivers Alliance Board of Directors is the governing body, overseeing vision, mission, and internal operations of the organization. Flathead Rivers Alliance Board members are elected to serve a staggered term of either two and three years; and shall serve until his/her successor is elected. Board members hold overall fiscal and managerial oversight responsibility for Flathead Rivers Alliance. They are charged with the supervision and oversight of Flathead Rivers Alliance mission. They are responsible for making decisions, delegating work, and assuring decisions are carried out in the manner intended. Ultimately, board members serve as ambassadors for Flathead Rivers Alliance mission, inside and outside of organizational commitments.

Job Announcement: Development Coordinator
Title:
Development Coordinator for the Flathead Rivers Alliance (FRA)
Classification:
Part-time, Exempt
Reports to:
Executive Director
Salary:
Hourly $25.00
Location:
Remote-based in Flathead Valley, Montana; The Development Coordinator is expected to regularly engage with staff and key partners.

Position Summary:
The Development Coordinator is responsible for providing support by managing and coordinating all activities related to donor relations, fundraising campaigns, volunteer coordination and other development initiatives. The Development Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director to ensure the successful execution of projects, programs, and events. FRA’s culture places a high priority on positive leadership, communication, recognition, and collaboration. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute fundraising campaigns and events, including researching, creating, and managing timelines, budgets, and other related materials

  • Manage donor data, gifts and pledges, and other records in an accurate, timely, and secure manner

  • Ensure donor acknowledgements and other correspondence are sent in a timely manner

  • Prepare and deliver donor reports, presentations, and other materials as required

  • Assist in the preparation of grant applications and other fundraising proposals

  • Coordinate and manage the organization's online presence and social media campaigns for development purposes

  • Manage volunteer logistics May-October 

  • Assist with planning and facilitating meetings and other events, including managing guest lists, registration, and other event logistics related to partner development

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fundraising, Communications, or a related field

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a development or fundraising role

  • Proven track record in creating and managing successful fundraising campaigns

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other donor management software

About the Flathead Rivers Alliance
Formed in 2019, the Flathead Rivers Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the Flathead River System. As the only friends group for the two administrative agencies for the river system, it is our goal to extend the agencies capacity to administer the Comprehensive River Management Plan for the nationally designated Wild & Scenic River and uphold the remarkable and outstanding values of the river system. Through education, stewardship and outreach we empower active community and stakeholders, we work alongside our partners to maintain the health of the Flathead River watersheds and mitigate human impacts, as well as to ensure access and enjoyment for all users. The Spotted Bear Ranger District, Hungry Horse Ranger District, Glacier View Ranger District within the Flathead National Forest, Glacier National Park and British Columbia-SE Kootenay are home of the three forks of the Flathead River. FRA works on the traditional homelands of the the Séliš, Ql̓ispé and Ktunaxa the longest-serving stewards of the river system. The river system has been traditionally frequented by Amskapi Piikani.

Each summer, Flathead Rivers Alliance hosts 200+ volunteers of all ages equating 800+ volunteer hours annually across a range of programs including, River Ambassador, River Recreation/Citizen Scientist, water quality monitoring, river invasive weed pulls, river cleanups, and river access improvement projects. Our work includes a multitude of year-round dynamic programs, events and projects. We believe in getting our hands wet, working alongside our partners and instilling stewardship into everyone we meet with a lead-by-example – we’ll-jump-first mindset. Through education and outreach we seek to provide the tools and access to knowledge that fosters an environment of self-teaching and pride in the river.

Desired Skills, Experience and Background
Qualifications may be met by any combination of education and experience that provide the knowledge, skills and abilities listed in the job description. 

The ideal Development Coordinator candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Knowledge and experience with programs related or similar to the Flathead Rivers Alliance’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives

  • Familiarity with the Three Forks of the Flathead River system

  • Experience working closely with or within a government agency, outdoor program, or non-profit organization

  • Volunteer management experience

  • Fundraising experience, grant writing, and financial management skills 

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, Google Drive, QuickBooks, website and database applications

  • Partnership/donor relationship development and stewardship

Position Requirements
Some travel and weekend availability is required. Use of your personal vehicle will be necessary with mileage reimbursement at the federal annual rate.
